Even If Nobody Asked

Even if nobody asked:

1. “Does that make sense?” is often more about the SPEAKER seeking confirmation for themselves than it is about valuing the LISTENER. Let’s do better.

2. Shouldn’t a check bag fee be somewhat related to the duration of the flight? $50 for a 75-minute flight last week seemed like a heavy tax to pay. My bag almost went on strike.

3. “I’m not picking ON you, I’m PICKING you”. Those times where God uses a trial or suffering to better mold someone into His image. Try responding with Ouch! AND Thank You!

4. “The greatest human privilege is having children.” – Russell Crowe

5. Fascinating! Catcher Dan Jansen was at the plate for the Toronto Blue Jays on June 26th when the rains came in a game against the Boston Red Sox. The game was eventually suspended with a continuation date scheduled for August 26th. They’ll pick up right where they left off. But not with Jansen in the batter’s box for the Jays. No, you see, Dan was traded to the Red Sox in late July. When the game picks up in a couple of days, he will be in a Red Sox uniform. And the Red Sox catcher in that game? You guessed it, no longer with the team either. So on Monday, Dan Jansen will become the first player in the near 150 history of MLB to play on BOTH teams in the same game. Now that’s cool!

6. We can often learn more from the lessons someone ISN’T trying to teach us as the ones they ARE trying to teach us. Be alert for this, kids.

7. “Thinking in ISOLATION and with PRIDE ends in being an idiot.” Get out of the basement!

8. When I see a store advertise that they’ve recently sold a large-payout lottery ticket ($100,000 winner sold here!) do they not know that by the law of averages they just confessed their location is NOT where you should buy your next lottery ticket?

9. I’m starting to struggle when driving on roads that don’t have construction workers, orange cones, people with flags or a sea of brake lights. It makes me uncomfortable to have such freedom on the road. I can’t handle it!

10. My youngest two daughters just moved to Evanston, Illinois and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, leaving me with no children in the house for the first time in 13,079 days (October 1988 to settle the math). But you are on your own if you call my wife an “empty nester”. Good luck to you. “They still have bedrooms here! You can be an empty nester but I’m not!” Yeah, that works for my heart too. Good call, hon.
