Even if nobody asked…..

1. December 7th marked the 30-year anniversary of the night a very attractive young woman I had just met at a Christmas party asked me who I was going to the big PC/URI basketball game with on Saturday. I took a breath, smirked, looked her dead in the eye and said, “I’m going with you.” The rest is history. 😎

2. Two “sports” books everyone will love: The Boys in The Boat by Daniel Brown and Open by Andre Agassi. Both are so, so good.

3. I’ve attended over 500 college basketball games in my life and the single best player I ever saw in person was Chris Mullen of St. John’s. Derrick Coleman of Syracuse is the best freshman I ever saw.

4. “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.” (Hebrews 13:2) What a gigantic perspective change that presents. Wow.

5. Top three destinations I have yet to visit that keep nagging at me: Lake Tahoe, Lake Como (Italy) and Scotland.

6. “Pain is weakness leaving the body.”

7. Yes, the Patriots have played a bad schedule, but truth is, 80%+ of Super Bowl teams this century have played a bottom five schedule. (I have the receipts on this, BTW)

8. December 8th marked the 45th anniversary of John Lennon's murder. His death was famously announced to the nation by Howard Cosell during a very rare New England Patriots appearance on Monday Night Football.

9. When I watch these made for TV Christmas musical specials (Rockefeller Center, Country Christmas etc..) I hunt the screen to catch the lip synching. Drives me crazy. I can’t enjoy any of it. Am I alone on this?

10. When you lose 25 pounds in three weeks and mistakenly use the expression “I’m going to work my ass off” in front of my wife: “Honey, I hate to tell you, but it’s already gone.”
