Even if nobody asked…..
1. So we just had a week where a guy survived a plane crash that killed the other 240 people on the plane while another guy playing a Polo match swallowed a bee and died. Living is a daily danger. Best to prioritize who is Lord of your life.
2. When my son was an infant he choked on a chip (don’t ask). I quickly handed him to his mom, who saved the day with the Heimlich Maneuver (I couldn’t spell it, much less perform it.) She reminded me recently that handing him to her was the second thing I did in that moment. “First, thing you did was run over and turn the TV off!” So there you go, me in a crisis.
3. Your ability to dream was not created so you could be mocked. Let it rip, people.
4. NBA finalist (Indiana Pacers) head coach, Rick Carlisle, went to high school in Worcester, MA, graduated from the University of Virginia and was drafted by the Boston Celtics. But in between all that he started his college hoops career at the University of Maine. Now that’s a road less traveled if I’ve ever seen one.
5. Don’t measure your life with someone else’s ruler. (HT: Kevin Kelly)
6. According to the internet this week, I seem to need Beef Tallow lathered all over his face. And the reason? Because it will make women in their 30’s look at me when I walk by them. Good grief.
7. “A heart set on SERVICE cannot be nervous.” Serve people, life gets less anxious when you do.
8. If you come to me for a promotion, I will ask you who in our organization you are aiming to become. When you give me that name I will check the security code logs. I’ll pull up yours and compare it to who you named to see how often you beat that person to the office or how often you left later than they did. When modeling someone, make sure you model the QUIET measurable too.
9. Satan’s goal is not to see you suffer. Satan’s goal is to see you SIN when you are suffering.
10. Rhode Island’s own coffee innovation, Coffee Milk (an ‘Arizona’ to those who truly know RI history) has been LOUDLY calling me for the first time in 30 years. Then I looked at the per serving content of sugar and sobbed. Uncontrollably. In the supermarket. Next to people. Wow, it’s been a tough year. 😎
Happy Father's Day men and thank you for reading along today.
