Even if nobody asked…..
1. He starred in two of my favorite movie gems from 30+ years ago, Real Genius and True Romance, neither of which made it into his countless obituary’s this week. RIP Val Kilmer, far more than a pretty face, a true giant on the big screen.
2. The difference between JUDGEMENT and DISCERNMENT is the difference between sin and wisdom. Close call. Vet yourself on this.
3. “Your self-loathing is beginning to look self-serving.” – Social Media 2025.
4. As a leader, you freak people out when you talk about CHANGE. Far better to talk about GROWTH. (HT: William Wallace)
5. When someone starts a sentence with “Listen….” what they really mean is OBEY. Bad form people.
6. A genuine smile reaches all the way to the upper cheeks, activating the crow’s-feet on the sides of your eyes. A fake smile appears only on the bottom half of the face. Careful, smiles leave clues.
7. The compensation pick the Boston Red Sox received for losing Xander Bogaerts turned into Kristian Campbell. Sometimes losing someone is the better return.
8. “I could fill a book with stories of people who forgot themselves into health and happiness.” – Dale Carnegie in his great work, How to Stop Worrying and Start Living.
9. In this season of life, I’m up for EVERYTHING if I am up for ANYTHING.
10. From the other room, I hear Trish howl out in pain. “What happened, I scream”. “The cleaning people washed the sliding glass door windows!”. I pause. “No, (I might be smirking), that sounds like WHY something happened. I’m asking WHAT happened.” “What do you think happened?", she replies; "I face-planted right into the closed slider thinking it was open, And it hurts!”
I come into the room and console her with the appropriate facial expressions and sounds before I whisper, “Any chance the Ring Camera caught it?” She might have cracked a tiny smile underneath the ice bag sitting on her face. Sometimes it’s the little things in life.
