Even if nobody asked:
1. “I am doomed to remember a boy with a wrecked voice—not because of his voice, or because he was the smallest person I ever knew, or even because he was the instrument of my mother's death, but because he is the reason I believe in God; I am a Christian because of Owen Meany.” Opening line for the #1 book on my all-time list: A Prayer for Owen Meany. Largely thought to be the best opening line in American literature. The Forrest Gump of novels. Yet, I know few that have actually read it. Maybe this post will change that.
2. Alls? There is no instances when all needs to be made plural by adding an s. All is already plural. Let’s get this right people! OK, I feel better now.
3. Great description of a CEO: An executive who hires a team of people smarter than him to solve all the problems and when that team comes across a problem they can’t solve they hand it back to HIM to fix. BAM!
4. I played the Quiet Game with my kids on long drives when they were young. I’d let a minute or two go by and then start talking trash them to my wife, sometimes creating jingles (or even rapping!) about them, their crush’s, their weaknesses etc. This provides two benefits for a parent: 1) It sparks your creativity while being wildly fun and 2) It teaches you which of your kids has the GRIT to not break the silence rule or to fight back about what people “say about them”.
5. Quote I’m contemplating: “Your life comes down to how you feel ABOUT yourself when you’re BY yourself.”
6. “Hey, why did you say HIM and not HER in your CEO description? Women are CEO’s too!” OK, easy: women fix ALL the problems themselves; they don’t need a team. They are a TEAM. There’s nothing they can’t fix. Ever. They are superhumans. In a related note, one my friends calls his wife “The Franchise.”
7. I have voted FOR one president in my whole life, Ronald Reagan in 1984. Every other time I voted AGAINST someone for president.
8. Professional basketball players have been loudly ripping college players lately. Both Caitlyn Clark and Zach Edes have been torched by WNBA and NBA “professionals”. We don’t see this in baseball, hockey, or football. Pro athletes publicly dishonoring the next generation of players is an insult to the privilege of being a professional athlete. How about encouraging them, they might be your teammate next season. Fools.
9. Tuesday the Boston Celtics became the first team in NBA history to not shoot a single free throw in a game. Stat of the year right there.
10. “No worries”. Well, I wasn’t worried. I don’t tend to worry about much and certainly not about someone I just thanked for something. This reply needs to stop. Alls I’m saying is it doesn’t fit.
