Even if nobody asked……
1. I just hit nine months “retired”. Let’s just say the biggest takeaway so far is that the “Freshman-15” is real, very real. I must have pledged Phi Beta Pudgy.
2. Books turned into a TV series have a much better chance than books turned into a movie.
3. Don’t play the game of proving people wrong. Instead, play the game of proving yourself right.
4. Inescapable and previously unspoken truth: a husband’s inability to find things is directly related to his wife’s ability to throw things away. There it is, I said it.
5. That ‘mastermind’ the media told you was an “expert” will soon prove to be a ‘nevermind’. You can ‘trust the science’ on that.
6. How dominant was PGA golfer Scotty Scheffler this season? Well, his CADDY would have landed in the top-20 on the PGA money list. Imagine, a guy CARRYING the clubs outearned 180 of the top 200 guys SWINGING the clubs. He did it in 80 days of work, netting $5.4 million. Nice.
7. Overrated: working out to lose weight. Underrated: working out to improve mindset.
8. “It’s football. Take that out of high school, it’s church with no Jesus. Who would even go?” – Demon Copperhead, a book I have nearly 50 such highlights. Great writing. Terrible story. Can’t recommend it enough or at all.
9. If you’re upset or stewing about something, odds are there’s a conversation that you’re not having. Over the years, I found myself frequently telling staff: “Hashtag, Have the Conversation!” Yeah, #justdoit.
10. At dinner with friends recently, my wife suggested that I didn’t know what a mid-wife was. I took a sip of water, grinned in satisfaction, and replied slowly: “Oh yeah, I do. That’s what they’ll be calling you when I’m with my next wife.” Checkmate!
