Even If Nobody Asked

Even if nobody asked…..

1. Back in ’20 and ‘21 while wearing a mask in the airport I suffered through several painful encounters with people who would approach me and ask if I knew who I looked like. I would answer “Brad Pitt?” They’d shake their head. “George Clooney?” Head shake again. “Denzel Washington?” That one always ended the inquiry. “No, Joe Biden!” Over and over again. Don’t laugh. Not even a little.

2. I can’t tell if a newsreader on TV is smart, no matter the network. No idea at all. I can tell, however, if someone having actual conversations over hours of time is smart. Easily. Podcast > TV news media.

3. I’m in an apparent war with blueberries. Whenever I take a handful from the fridge and stuff them into my mouth the more prominent landing spot for many of them is the floor. Small mouth, slippery hands, migrant fruit? I don’t know. But I do know that the floor auditor (who shall remain anonymous) has a sharp #2 pencil and a bristling disposition when it comes to finding stray blueberry’s on “her floor".

4. Here’s an idea: wish for OTHERS the things you wish for YOURSELF, maybe even pray for those things for THEM.

5. “If she’s determined to have a nervous breakdown, the least we can do is see that she doesn’t have it in peace.” JD Salinger, in a fitting description for the state of our country right now, even though he wrote it when Eisenhower was president.

6. Description from a syndicated news article I read last week: “He was mauled to death and left with several wounds". Well yeah, I would think so.

7. STRENGTH combined with GENTLENESS accentuates your power, it doesn’t reduce it.

8. The Pharmaceutical industry spends $8 BILLION dollars a year advertising to people who can’t order one of their products. Shouldn’t this raise our skepticism?

9. “In the aftermath of a heated conversation, bad ideas travel at the speed of light.” Take a minute, maybe even a full day.

10. My dog, Kevin, stands near the door and rapidly twirls around in circles when he has to pee. It’s pretty funny. I was recently on a walk with my wife and found myself in need of peeing. I quickened my pace to hurry home. She didn’t like this and let me know it. “You’re like an old man hurrying like that to go the bathroom. Please stop it.” I apologized and promised to do better. The next day I did. Much better. When the urge came to pee I stopped and just starting twirling around in a circle, faster, and faster, right in the middle of the street. She grimaced. I asked her if she had any treats, but she didn’t reply. Maybe because she was already 100 yards down the road. I take my walks alone now.
