Even if nobody asked…..
1. Hardest position to play in sports? I’m going with catcher in baseball, but I could be talked into CB or QB in football or goalie in hockey. I think husband in marriage is right up there though.
2. Who loses a game first this season, the Cavs, or the Chiefs?
3. The Bucks have two wins. Those wins came against the then one-win Sixers and one-win Jazz. (whoops, got there 3rd win last night against the two-win Raptors). In related news, the Bucks are coached by Doc Rivers, a man who believes every one of his press conferences is a triple double.
4. The Boston Bruins season is taking on the symbol of what they call the last man chosen in the NFL draft: Mr. Irrelevant.
5. Best sports books I’ve ever read: The Breaks of the Game, David Halberstam’s classic on the 1979-80 Portland Trailblazers and Open, the autobiography of Stephie Gaffs’ husband, Andre Agassi. Boys in The Boat by the “other” Dan Bown and Season on the Brink by John Feinstein are also way up there.
6. I just learned that there are actually TWO Wrigley Fields, one in Chicago and one in LA. The former is the park where they filmed the HR Derby show back in the ‘60s. Who knew?
7. Best NBA player no one has heard of? Alperen Sengun of the Rockets would be my call.
8. So Red Sox rookie Wilyer Abreu wins a Gold Glove AND has the 2nd best offensive season by a rookie in the AL but he’s not even a finalist for ROY? Sure.
9. Zion Williamson, former 1st pick in the draft, has missed a whopping 44% of his team’s games over FIVE seasons. That’s about $14 MM a year in PTO if you’re counting.
10. “He threw me open” is a great phrase describing how a QB got the ball to a WR that failed to get himself open.
Have a great day ya'll.
