Even if nobody asked…..
1. The other day I was on a drive where Waze showed me arriving at 7:04. Challenge accepted! Rerouting several times I arrived at 7:02. I may have run a stop sign or hit a couple of trash cans on the way, but I won! I can’t be alone in this, right?
2. When you use a question inflection at the end of a STATEMENT it shows a lack of confidence. Stop sabotaging yourself with this.
3. If you go a week without telling somebody (anybody!) what you truly admire about them then you have squandered a week of truly impacting at least two people. And one of them is YOU.
4. Getting cheated occasionally is the small price for trusting the best in people because when you trust the best in people, they generally treat you best. HT: Kevin Kelly
5. Perfect is the enemy of DONE.
6. Before considering any resolutions for the New Year, write out a list of your favorite moments in the year gone by. It’s much more fun and it elevates your gratitude.
7. The Bible isn’t a BOOK, it’s a LIBRARY with 66 books. Naturally, a lot of people have trouble reading a library, so start with a book. Pick one. Read it. Now you’ve read the bible. What a way to start the New Year!
8. Exchanging the word ‘but’ with ‘and’ softens the blow in conversations. Especially in business. “The appraisal is done but it came in short” is improved by saying “The appraisal is done, and it came in short.” Butter!
9. There are no SOLUTIONS, only TRADEOFFS. Similarly, nobody gives up something, they just REPLACE it with something else. Know you are making trades and (not but) make them well.
10. I give my wife a short list of Christmas gifts I’d like Santa to bring me. Each year she ignores the list and freestyles it, so this year I gave her a list of things I DIDN’T want. Now I have several items to return. Maybe I should have asked for a better understanding of the female psyche.
