Even if nobody asked……
1. HAVING stuff isn’t fun. GETTING stuff is fun.
2. Ordering Doordash says not only do I not want to cook, but I also don’t want to drive and get the food someone else cooked for me. You know you’re only a step away from paying someone to spoon feed you, right?
3. “Every midwife I have ever known has cautioned that an abundance of male births for multiple years in a row means looming war. One of them—old, bitter, and widowed—had buried every child of her own and, in the calcification of her grief, would refer to such boys as “the cannon fodder of kings.” – The Frozen River, Ariel Lawhon. Interesting.
4. Maybe we find the Christian life so difficult because we seek God's blessing while living by our own will?
5. “It’s OK to visit memory lane, just don’t build a house there.”
6. I no longer dress according to the occasion. I now dress according to the probably that the occasion will see me staining some article of clothing.
7. Not advocating for either show, and the plots are quite different, but to me Tom Hardy’s character in Mobland is a subtle rip-off of Liev Schreiber’s character in Ray Donovan.
8. “If excellence is to be expected you can’t ask the wrestlers to throw the javelins.”
9. If you are invited to my house for an event do NOT arrive early. Be aware that my preparedness meter is dialed to precisely the stated invite time. I’m basically getting out of the shower as you turn the corner to my house. Plan accordingly.
10. My talented 60+ year old retired brother badly hurt his shoulder finishing up the building of his new house in New Hampshire. Last week he tells me he’s gone back to work for a few weeks “to rest up my shoulder so it can heal and make enough extra money to pay somebody to finish the house” This, ladies, and gentlemen, is how we Harrington’s solve problems.
