Even if nobody asked:

1. Recently gave the series Suits a try. Contrived plot chased around by contrived dialogue. I casually mention to Trish that the female paralegal character looks a bit like the princess, queen, royal whatever girl from England. She tells me it is, in fact, her (using her “idiot” tone, I noticed). “Ah, so she went from acting in a drama to acting in a reality series"? I was told to be quiet, that I was ruining the series. (I think the series was doing a fine job of that on its own, but I held that thought captive.)

2. Maximum responsibility = maximum adventure. Your death bed will wish you chose maximum adventure so don’t just TAKE responsibility, HUNT responsibility!

3. When people remind you that they drive a USED car do they not realize we ALL do?

4. Hey you “plethora” people, listen up. “Variety” works just fine. “Many” isn’t bad either.

5. With respect to this week’s political and cultural madness: Just because you’re not drowning doesn’t mean the boats not sinking.

6. Saw a southern musician in a Christian band wearing a hat with the number 3 on it the other night. Got me to thinking, the #3 on a hat or an article of clothing to ME has meant Dale Earnhardt since he died in 2001. I then asked my kids what #3 meant as a brand to them. NONE replied with Earnhardt. I see that I’m aging right before my own eyes again.

7. I was in New Hampshire this past week. Their state motto is still “Live Free or Die”. Sure seems to me like the country is moving this ideal to “Live free AND die.” Unfortunately.

8. Clothing advice: Don’t buy it because it’s the right PRICE, buy it because it’s the right FIT. Always. No exceptions. Your closet is loaded with things that were the right price that you don’t wear. That’s a price that costs you a lot.

9. “The flip side of being a person who never fails at anything is that you never do anything you could fail at. You never do anything risky. There’s a certain essential lack of courage among people who seem to be good at everything.” – Nathan Hill from his excellent book, The Nix.

10. The three best voices I can recall hearing live are: 1) Don Henley 2) Elvis Costello and 3) Elton John. After finally seeing Chris Stapleton, I’d give him his own voice category: most powerful, greatest depth and range. The guy is a vocal rodeo act! Fascinating. When you add in his elite talent as a guitar player and a lyricist you have a rare, rare performer.
