Even If Nobody Asked

Even if nobody asked:

1. Very good friend of mine was in the wedding party for Olivia Culpo and Christian McCaffery’s nuptials. What did he report as the best part of the event? The fashion? The celebrity sightings? The bromance with NFL players? Nope, none of that. “Best part is that they took our cell phones away.” Say what? “Yeah, it was amazing to see people WATCH the ceremony instead of FILM the ceremony; to have their heads UP for six hours in conversation with one another.” Yeah, that’s brilliant. For the record, I did not allow cell phones at my wedding to Trish Harrington 😎.

2. You should never expect to win a discussion simply because you’re right. You know this if you’ve ever used social media or ever been married.

3. “The point of a system is what it DOES.” Communism/Marxism has killed over 100 million people. That’s not a failure of the SYSTEM, it’s the POINT of the system. What would an improved Communism/Marxism look like? Oh boy, not good. (HT: Jack Prosobiec)

4. “If you can’t showcase your WARMTH, people won’t believe in your COMPETENCE.” Be warm today.

5. Setlist.fm has to be one of the greatest pre-purchasing tools around. You get to look up the songs being performed on a concert tour before deciding to buy tickets. Or at least be able to time your bathroom breaks a little better. (One of these matters a whole lot more than the other to me.)

6. What exactly did you hire that grudge to do?

7. “I sat with my drink untouched in my hand. I like to drink, but not when people are using me for a diary.” The great writing of author Ray Chandler.

8. I don’t see a lot of movies but recently it seems that actor Glenn Powell is in every one of them. Is he basically the new Michael Cain (160 movies, over EIGHT decades!) or is that Scarlett Johannson, an actress who doesn’t seem to be able to say no.

9. Maybe it’s time to get myself away from me.

10. Over the next 60 days (give or take a contraction or two), I will see one daughter off to grad school in Chicago, another daughter off to undergraduate studies in Pittsburgh AND welcome two new grandchildren. Apparently, my life is now a mimic of the “breaking even” plot thread in the Seinfeld episode “Opposites”.
