Even if nobody asked…..
1. Wouldn’t it be nice to live in a world where everyone takes their turn talking, nobody interrupts, and when the conversation ends everyone leaves the room at the same time, in single file? Not possible, right? Well, tell that to the people who write and direct today’s TV shows.
2. If you have an aisle seat, you have the aisle. If you have a window seat, you have the window. If you have the middle seat, you have the armrests. Got it? Got it.
3. “It’s frightfully important that I listen to me when I’m listening to you.”
4. Some people need to get a handle on how many times they start a sentence with, “Good thing I…” Just saying.
5. Cut 20% of the battle scenes in The Odyssey and you have a great movie. Some of those scenes needed an intermission. Or at least a commercial break.
6. Stop looking for your CALLING in life. Look, instead, for your ASSIGNMENT. – Rick Ferris
7. The Christian army is the only one that buries its wounded.
8. A leader’s job is to extinguish fear, to root it out and crush it in his or her staff. A leader who does the opposite, who INSTILLS fear, is working a racket or playing a political game of some sort. Be leery of that leader. They aren’t leading at all.
9. The positive thing about an early-fall Nor’easter is that it might blow away the political lawn signs dotting our landscape like acne on the face of a teenager.
10. On the tram heading to the rental car lot in San Francisco last week, I’m set to pick up a one-way rental I’ll return in Reno five days later. Lots of miles ahead, many on narrow roads at high elevation. One-way rentals across state lines are hard to come by, and the best they’ve offered is a small SUV. Mrs. EINA hates small vehicles, and I can see she’s on edge.
So I pray. I ask God for His favor and His blessing. He commands blessing to those who abide in Him. It’s right there in Scripture.
The agent gives us the keys to a moderately small SUV. I start it up, and he comes out and knocks on my window.
“Hey, you can’t take that car. The license plate doesn’t match the rental agreement. It’s not even the same state!”
He goes off to see his manager.
I talk to God some more.
The agent returns to tell us the only vehicle he can offer is one they never use for one-way rentals: a Jeep Wagoneer. It’s HUGE. It’s way more money. And, of course, they give it to us for the price of the small SUV.
We wheel out smiling.
Coincidence? Not quite.
It's called favor.
