Even if nobody asked……
1. “There are people in this world who have a knack for asking embarrassing, awkward questions without meaning to—it’s like a talent for walking into doors.” Incidentally, if you find yourself in the same place as my wife please open ALL the doors. 😎
2. Lesson of wisdom you learn over the years: It's OK to establish healthy boundaries with some people. It's also OK to have a necessary ending with some people.
3. RECEIVE a compliment but don’t EAT a compliment, it won’t be feeding you, it will be feeding your ego.
4. If you can’t depend on someone being on time, you shouldn’t trust them with anything more important.
5. A yawn is a period at the end of a conversation. Don’t yawn in conversations.
6. The most accomplished people I’ve met are those who are ‘comfortable being uncomfortable’. It’s like a Superpower.
7. Landman is a cheap photocopy of Yellowstone, complete with a bunkhouse, abused workers, scandalous female characters, and plenty of chippy mic-drop dialogue. Texas oilfields replace Montana ranches. Billy Bob Thornton replaces Kevin Costner. I made it through a few episodes of Taylor Sheridan’s latest franchise before the Suspended Reality Chip (SRC) in my brain crashed.
8. Calling someone privileged because of their skin color is judging people by the color of their skin and not the content of their character. Ya know, what MLK warned us about.
9. Best line I read this week in a comment section: “Sometimes she looks good, sometimes she looks like she opened the Ark of the Covenant.” Outstanding!
10. The years longest day of darkness is today, December 21st. But over the next four days we start to go in the other direction, gaining a full two minutes of daytime. The nights get shorter, the days longer, light replaces dark. A REBIRTH has begun. One we see as the light of the world when we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ on the 25th.
Merry Christmas everyone. Thank you for your faithfulness in reading my mental scribbling every Saturday, I appreciate it.
