Even if nobody asked…..
1. I have two dogs, Flynn, and Kevin. If I want Kevin to come flying into a room all I have to do is say “Good boy, Flynn!” Sadly, I have yet to find a comparable phrase that summons my wife with that level of enthusiasm. Stay tuned.
2. Aging wrinkles your FACE, loss of enthusiasm wrinkles your SOUL.
3. The lesson to "keep things in perspective" usually has a very, very tough teacher.
4. You see only 2% of another person and they see only 2% of you. Attune yourself to the hidden 98%. That’s empathy.
5. Important life lesson: get up before your worries do. During a turbulent 2023 for me that meant getting up at 4:30. Yeah, AM, not PM.
6. Another year where I was not named People magazines Sexiest Man of Alive. After 40+ years of failure I’ve moved my goal to winning it posthumously.
7. Speaking of wive’s, mine thinks you should ‘date your home state’. Act like a tourist HERE before you become a tourist THERE. My friend Ted Stricklin, owner of Experience Rhode Island, thinks she’s right.
8. The most profound answers are always QUESTIONS. He who asks the best questions wins.
9. There are two types of people emotionally in life. Those who use the SHIFT key to type in caps and those who throw down the CAPS LOCK key. Tread lightly with the latter.
10. Trish responding to my colleague Rod Correia when he’d bring food to us at Shamrock from his master chef level wife, Martha: “Where’d you get this, Mobile on the Run?” I’ve been sick recently, and Martha sent Rod to my house with a curative meal. Trish’s reply: “Mobile on the Run sells chicken soup now?” The joke never gets old. Sorry Martha.
