Even if nobody asked…….
1. I had kidney surgery a week ago that led to a follow-up procedure just a few days later. So yes, I'm actively searching for the person holding the voodoo doll.
A tip line will be established shortly.
2. Don't call it a hard decision if you can't name the thing that had to be given up for something else to thrive.
3. Throwing more money at bad decision-making doesn't fix it. It just makes the mistake more expensive.
4. MLB will have a work stoppage in 2027. Unfortunately, the Boston Red Sox appear to have misread that as 2026.
5. Every wish for a do-over falls into one of three categories:
Something you REGRET.
Something you need to REPENT of.
Or something God has already REDEEMED.
6. Tito Horford's son, Al, is selling his Brookline home for $15 million.
The architectural style appears to be Early Airport Terminal.
Incidentally, Elon Musk could buy 66,000 of them and still have enough left over for a rocket or two.
7. Don't say YES to a commitment during the first phone call. At a minimum, sleep on it.
8. Tell me Ed Sullivan and Richard Nixon were ever seen in the same room at the same time and I'll call you a liar.
But I'll use nicer language.
9. Technology seems to advance faster than the ethics required to use it responsibly.
10. My father was the head of the Cub Scouts in our city when I was growing up. We met in the basement of a Catholic church.
One day Dad announced that if a scout attended a different church, he would visit that church on a Sunday morning. A kind of denominational reciprocity.
I nodded absentmindedly when he said it, completely unaware that he had just volunteered his sons for the assignment as well.
As a result, we attended churches that were far more Sister Act, tent revival, and Billy Graham crusade than anything we'd have experienced on our own.
Looking back, I'm grateful.
It broadened my understanding of people, faith, and community long before I was old enough to appreciate the lesson.
Happy Father's Day, Douglas Harrington Sr.
You made an impact.
