Even if nobody asked…..
1. “Clothing holds memories” – my daughter, Lauren, in her presentation of The Couture Calendar she built as a FIRST DAY (good grief!) masters assignment at Northwestern University’s McCormick School of Engineering. She pointed out to the audience that she was wearing the same pants she wore the day she fell in love with physics in Ms. Tripp’s class at Providence Country Day School as a high school junior. Facts tell, story’s sell. #prouddad
2. It’s better to know more about the other person than they know about YOU. Especially in business. That’s why it’s best to SHUT UP once in a while.
3. Tucker Carlson went to high school in Rhode Island and was married in Newport. I went to high school in Rhode Island and was married in Newport. Wonders never cease.
4. Odd as it may sound, I often prefer someone who is five minutes LATE to someone who is five minutes EARLY. (Not at an L10 for you EOS people.)
5. “It was just as sinful to lie abed after light as it was to be abroad after dark. There was no possible virtue in either.” A lesson I failed to grasp until my mid-40’s. (Steinbeck, East of Eden)
6. Going from the United States of America ARE to the United States of America IS has not been a step in the right direction. Pretty much just the opposite.
7. Don’t take the clickbait, and here’s what the worm looks like: “Bombshell”, Breaking”, “Insider”, “Secret” “Finally”, “Reveals”. If these appear in the headline, run. Just run.
8. I’ve seen Andrea Bocelli in concert. I’ve ALSO seen Rick James, Flo Rida, Kid Rock, and Pit Bull. Don’t judge me. Not all were my choice to make.
9. Fools listen to confirm what they already believe. Don’t be a fool.
10. A good friend of mine lost his remarkable dad recently and the night before the funeral he decided to honor him by cutting the grass at his house in Edgewood. When he finished, he saw that he wasn’t really done. It was slightly crooked, something his father would not have accepted. So he spent the next 15 minutes getting it right. Just long enough for a full moon to creep across his bow. He aimed his phone knowing pictures of the moon rarely convert well. Not so this time, though! There was a sign to be given, a confirmation to receive. His dad was indeed watching, no doubt sitting in the loving arms of the Father.
