Even if nobody asked…..

1. On a rainy Saturday in late 2012, I read a book start to finish during the day and went to see the movie version of the book at night. And BOTH were good. Can you name the book and movie?

2. How do we love someone best, fully? We learn to HATE what hurts them. And that is SIN.

3. Expertly cooking a steak roast: 5 minutes per pound at 500 degrees then shut off the oven and let it sit for 60 minutes (don’t open the oven door!). Take it out, let it sit for ten minutes then cut it into steaks. You’re welcome. HT: Martha Chadwick Correia

4. “Charlie Kirk wasn't killed because he spoke. He was killed because our children listened.”

5. Men of faith, upon receiving bad news, “nod your head with the stoicism of a soldier who has just been shot and go down without a single expression”. Got it.

6. Free speech isn’t under attack. Bad TV shows are under attack. Colbert and Kimmel LOST millions of dollars. If they MADE millions of dollars they’d still be on the air.

7. The creator of a product does not design it so it breaks, won’t work properly or is quickly and easily destroyed. Normal wear and tear in the world (and careless users) do those things. So please don’t think God made you sick or broken. The world (and we ourselves) do that. He can heal us though!

8. Can we bury the awful phrase “they SHARE a child together”? A child can’t be shared without breaking them apart. Let’s not do that. Such a Hollywood way of expressing (and dishonoring) parenthood. Terrible.

9. One of your jobs as a leader is to convey to each employee WHY their job is important. If you don’t do that (repeatedly) then don’t complain when their work is uninspired.

10. 25th wedding anniversary dinner in Newport the other night when the restaurant suddenly starts filling up with people from my former industry. It dawns on me that they are all in town for the New England Mortgage Bankers Conference, an event I attended for decades. I see the panic in my wife Trish's face as she races to pay the bill while leaning over and sternly whispering to me (using her adult voice): “Put your head down, don’t make eye contact with anyone, I mean it.” Five minutes later she stands, takes me by the hand and exits us out a back door. I felt part errant schoolboy and part celebrity. #LifeWithMyWife

Pile up the comments folks, let's go! And as always, thanks for reading.
