10. One Saturday in July, many years ago, I left our home in East Providence, Rhode Island, to watch my son Taylor play a doubleheader in Brooklyn, New York. When the games ended, I pointed the car north and drove straight to our vacation home in North Woodstock, New Hampshire.
The drive felt longer than a red-eye flight. We pulled in far later than I had promised, exhausted and looking like I'd wandered the desert for forty years.
My young daughter was waiting outside.
While I was somewhere between New York and New Hampshire, she had transformed the walkway leading to our front door with sidewalk chalk.
In that moment, I reached the promised land of a father's heart.
I've forgotten countless meetings, conversations, and accomplishments from those years.
But I’ve never forgotten that moment…….I trust I never will.
