Even if nobody asked……….sports edition (don't miss #10!)

1. Every player who tore an Achilles in this year’s NBA playoffs wore number 0 (Lillard, JT, Halliburton) except my friend Spencer McCombe.

2. Nick Sogard of the PawSox had a 19 pitch WALK the other night playing in Worcester, MA. Now that’s impressive.

3. Luka was handed to Lakers, the Mavs were handed the #1 pick in the draft and now the Lakers were sold for a record $10B. "Nothing to see here, people, move right along."

4. In the NBA, Harden, Durant, and Westbrook are part of the decades All Acquired team. “All dressed up with no place to go.” Buyer beware.

5. Manny Ramirez is 53 years old. Go figure.

6. I’m guessing the McConnell parents are pretty good-looking people. Just a hunch.

7. The downside to building a lineup on lefty/righty match-ups like Cora is doing is felt defensively. We saw that with the Red Sox platoon/utility starters in San Francisco. Ugly.

8. I guess we need a strike zone box for umpires on player/manager ejections now too?

9. Tonight a white kid from MAINE, who should have graduated high school this month, will be the #1 pick in the NBA draft. The non-white comp for him by some NBA scouts? None other than Lebron James. We shall see.

10. Ten years ago this month Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta started the greatest one-year stretch in the history of pitching. Doubt it? Well, consider this: In 29 games started, his record was 24-1 (team went 27-2 overall) with an absurd ERA of 0.99. He threw TWO no hitters and the only game he lost came when the Cubs were no hit by Cole Hamels. And amazingly, he hit four homer runs himself in that stretch, which is the same number he allowed. Wild.

Let's go! Have a great day.
