Even if nobody asked:
1. A guy walks down the aisle past me on an airplane wearing a shirt with his company’s mission statement on it. It read, “The relentless pursuit of healing”. It took the amount of restraint I generally reserve for vegetables to not reach out and ask him, “Hey buddy, if you really were in a relentless pursuit wouldn’t you have reached HEALED? Healing is on your way to something. Missions are about arrival. I let him pass by like he was broccoli, another sign of my amassing level of maturity.
2. “You’re not listening” is a device used to silence or interrupt someone. It’s conversational tyranny. I mean, if they’re really not listening, how will they even know you just said they weren’t listening?
3. The steepest climb of your life as a guy? From “young man” to “sir”. It’s also the most humbling of descents. Can we somehow be BOTH?
4. When people watch a debate between, oh let’s say, a Christian and an Atheist, I see them only trying to collect talking points and defensive strategy’s to better arm their position. It’s essentially opposition research. Show me the last person who became a Christian or became an Atheist by watching a debate. I’ll wait right here.
5. Inquiring minds want to know: would the public at-large even know who Angel Reece is if there was no Caitlin Clark? (Litmus test if you disagree: who was last season’s 2nd best WNBA rookie? Yeah, I didn’t think so.)
6. “Independence is a delusion quickly exposed by suffering.” Maybe even the purpose behind it?
7. If AI could reproduce anyone to do current day sports play-by-play I would want Dick Enberg (“Oh My!”) and Curt Gowdy calling the games I watch. Pat Summerall can have the NFL late game on Sunday afternoons. Who would you want?
8. Stay away from people in life who are trying to put their foot on the brake while yours is on the accelerator. They cause collisions!
9. Be STRICT with yourself and FORGIVING of others. The reverse is hell on everyone.
10. I buy the meat in our house, but I was away recently, and my wife agreed to run out and grab the steak roast I needed. Uh oh I thought. Now she’ll know how much I spend on quality meat and she’s sure to let me know about it. And she did. A simple text did the trick: “Hey, don’t worry about your steak roast. I put it in the car seat and buckled it in. It’s safe.” Yup, “Life with my Wife” right there.
